Comet

A comet is a small celestial body made mostly of ice, dust, and rocky particles that heats up and vaporizes as it approaches the Sun, producing its characteristic tail. The trail of dust a comet leaves behind on each pass around the Sun is what causes meteor showers when Earth crosses through it.
