Echolocation

Echolocation is a biological sensing method in which an animal determines the location, distance, and size of nearby objects by listening to its own sounds echoing back off them. Bats, dolphins, and several toothed whale species rely on this ability to find prey and navigate in darkness or murky water. The system depends on the brain instantly processing the time and frequency differences between the emitted sound and the returning echo.
