Electromagnetic Induction

Electromagnetic induction is the principle by which a changing magnetic field near a conductive wire generates an electric current in it. Discovered by Michael Faraday in 1831, it underlies most of modern electrical technology — from generators and transformers to wireless chargers and electric-vehicle charging systems — allowing a changing current in one coil to induce a current in a second coil without any physical contact.
