Elenchus

Elenchus is the philosophical method of refutation used by Socrates in his dialogues, in which questioning exposes the contradictions in a person's stated view, prompting them to examine and revise their thinking. Central to the Socratic method, elenchus aims not to impart knowledge directly but to lead the interlocutor to recognize inconsistencies in their own reasoning.
