Extremophile

An extremophile is any organism able to survive and even thrive in conditions — extreme temperature, pressure, radiation, salinity or drought — that would be lethal to most forms of life. Tardigrades, certain bacteria and deep-sea creatures are examples; the survival mechanisms of such organisms offer astrobiologists clues about where to look for life beyond Earth.
