Magnetoreception

Magnetoreception is the ability of certain animal species to sense the Earth's magnetic field in order to navigate, migrate or determine their position. Observed in migratory birds, sea turtles and some fish, this sense is thought to rely on biophysical mechanisms that are still not fully understood.
