Solar Wind

The solar wind is a continuous stream of charged particles - mostly electrons and protons - flowing outward from the Sun's outer atmosphere, the corona, into space. It travels at hundreds of kilometers per second and reaches every planet in the Solar System. On Earth, its interaction with the magnetosphere produces the aurora and can occasionally trigger geomagnetic storms that disrupt satellites and power grids.
