Thermal Bridge
A thermal bridge is a point in a building where a structural element conducts heat far more readily than the surrounding insulation, allowing heat to flow along the path of least resistance. Window surrounds, balcony slabs, and points where concrete beams pass through a wall are typical examples. Because the interior surface stays colder at these points, thermal bridges also raise the risk of condensation and mold.
